Bud Light Commercial

Hey guys I am pretty sure that all of you have seen this commercial.  But it has a popular artist Pitbull in what looks like a club, drinking Bud Light.  It brings up some good questions that relate to our course theme.  Such as why is the main person in this commercial Pitbull (a celebrity) and not a random person?  Why are the only people changing how they look women?  Besides wanting you to drink Bud Light what is this commercial trying to say?  Pitbull says “get the party started” is he trying to say that you can only party with alcohol?

  1. They likely used a celebrity to connect to the viewers and make the commercial more personal for them. Fans of Pitbull may be more persuaded to drink Bud Light now. Also it may give people the impression that if you drink Bud Light, you can be rich and famous like Pitbull. For some, it may even make them think that if they drink Bud Light they could become more successful in the music industry.

  2. I'm responding to the Analyze the interface of the featured blog, website, or article. I almost disagree and say that using a celebrity in the commercial makes people relate less to the commercial because most peoples lives aren't like that, but using the celebrity makes you think that if you drink bud light, your life could be as good as his. The fact that the girls change really stood out to me too I believe this is because there is a common theme in beer advertising to link it with attractive girls being more attracted to you. The intended audience for this commercial is very obviously younger men. They also inferred that you will have a lot more fun if you drink Bud Light.

  3. I am responding to analyze the interface of the Bud Light commercial. The fact that the women in the commercial began to change and become more attractive was a main part of the commercial and was something that stuck out. It could be implying that when you drink Bud Light you will be surrounded by beautiful women to get the male audience to drink their beer instead of the competitors. With that said it is easy to look at it the other way too. The fact that the women began changing after the main character began drinking could mean that drinking Bud Light gives one "beer goggles" and you do not see clearly. That could almost make people not want to buy their product, especially men, because who would want that thick of beer goggles. I believe the intention of the changing women was the first and men will want to drink Bud Light to get women and have fun, which is what the commercial was trying to convey.

  4. I am analyzing the interface of the commercial. In the beginning of the commercial the woman is serving Pit Bull beer and she gives him a slightly provocative look and he seems to show little interest. He then gets up and she "twists" into a sexier woman and that is when he shows her some attention. Throughout the video the women are "twisting" into new sexier women and this almost seems to imply that if women drink Bud Light that they will become this new sexier person that will attract men maybe even a celebrity. This commercial has a very upbeat song to it and the mood seems to be very happy and like everyone is having a blast. It seems to imply that drinking beer is fun and enjoyable without consequences. The people, men and women, all seem to be having the time of their lives. This commercial seems to imply that you can have a good time no matter what as long as you are drinking Bud Light. Pit Bull says "Get the party started," at the end of the commercial. This makes it seem like that in order to have a successful party, or to even have a party at all, you have to buy Bud Light at your party.

  5. Prompt 7. In this ad, Pitbull is used as a celebrity endorser. The company probably hopes that people will believe that they can be like pitbull if they drink bud light. As others have said before, the way the women change could be a possible reference to the "beer goggles" effect in which people tend to seem more attractive while drunk, due to lowered inhibitions. The music and atmosphere imply that drinking bud light will instantly turn a bland party into the party of the century.

  6. One thing we found as a group was an anomoly, which was the use of Pitbull's remix of the song "we no speak americano". This is not actually an original song by Pitbull, which has the idea of taking something and making something better. This could be applied to the other aspects of the commercial, whose main point is with adding something (in the commercials case, alcohol), everything gets better.

In the commericals case, as soon as you pop the top of the bottle, the party gets started.

So in conclusion, adding pitbull to a song is like adding alcohol to a party. It "makes it better".

  7. One interesting fact of this commercial is the fact that Pitbull is wearing sunglasses even though he is inside and it is especially dark since the lights are turned off. This could signify the fact that if you drink alcohol, it darkens your perception of what is going on around you. The act of twisting off the cap of the bottle implies the fact that drinking beer makes the women in the commercial more sexier to men than before. The fact that only the women change clothes and not the men says that the commercial is only geared toward a male audience.
